How do you know your vision is blurry if it’s all you’ve ever known?
Wednesday night we held another successful Mindful Eyes event at the Berkeley Free Clinic. In total, we served 6 wonderful people – 2 frame selects, 3 dispenses, 1 vision screening and frame select. Although, one participant really left an impact. Marlon is a man who possesses the necessary sass to survive and an electrifying sense of humor. With his new specs on and a mirror in hand, he told Billy Dee Williams and Denzel Washington to watch out because there was a new sheriff in town. As a new bifocal wearer, he was ecstatic to be able to see clearly far away and up close with the same pair of glasses.
Changing lives @ Mindful eyes!
A special thanks to Oakland’s Bad Ass Optical Lab for making our glasses, The Berkeley Free Clinic for providing the space, UCBSO and Irvington High School students for volunteering their time. Thank you, Eileen Wang, Jessica Gee, Justin Duong-Mac, Divya Reddy, Amy Wen, Natalia Santizo.
